About This Video

In this video I tried to answer a very important question: can ChatGPT actually code a horror game from scratch… or is it just going to confidently hand me spaghetti and call it “immersive”? I asked it for a step-by-step Unity horror game plan, then followed the steps one by one. The catch was brutal: I couldn’t change any of the code it gave me. I imported a basic environment and an enemy from the Unity Asset Store, then used ChatGPT’s suggestions to make the scene feel more “horror” with lighting/settings tweaks. After that, I had it generate player movement, enemy AI, and even a jump scare script—then I glued it all together exactly as instructed. The result was honestly a decent horror prototype. Not a full game, not the next big indie nightmare, but it actually functioned: you can move, get chased, and get jump-scared. Then I took it further by revisiting my “horror game in 10 minutes” maze concept and asked ChatGPT how to improve it. I picked three upgrades and gave myself 10 minutes for each: a disguised wall-enemy that reveals itself and chases you, a second maze to add variety, and a key-and-door objective with random key spawns. The takeaway: AI can absolutely help you get to a playable prototype fast—just don’t expect it to magically ship the whole horror experience for you.
