In this one I’m putting the Storm Bionic on the lane and showing you why this thing is already winning. Brandon Bont just won his first title and shot 300 with the Bionic (against EJ Tackett of all people), and at Next Generation Bowler Pro Shop inside AMF Stardust Lanes in G City, Ohio, we literally can’t keep it in stock. I was lucky to get my hands on one, so I take it right to a slightly transitioned house shot and start moving my feet and eyes to see where it really wants to live.
I start up the boards (around 20 at the feet) and pretty quickly realize that zone isn’t the look for me, so I chase it left—standing 25 and feeding it around 12—and the shape is just nasty. The Bionic stores a ridiculous amount of energy and is way more responsive off the spot than something like the Gremlin, which is rounder overall. Even with the box finish around 4000, it’s got some teeth, and I even saw it “hold” on a couple tugged shots. Bottom line: you can play it straighter, live in the middle, or open up left, and I think a wide variety of styles can use it.
