About This Video

What’s going on back after 10 folks—it's your boy Brandon, and I’m in the shop for a quick one: should you plug and redrill your bowling equipment, or is it “bad” like some people make it sound? There’s definitely a stigma in bowling where folks swear plugging changes everything. My take is simple: yeah, plugging can change core dynamics a little bit, but for most of us bowling league on a house shot, it’s really not that deep—unless you’re plugging a ball a lot. I talked it over with my guy (and boss) Jason Linquist while he’s working on my stuff. The big key isn’t just the plug job—it’s making sure the ball is finished correctly and stays round after resurfacing. We’ve seen balls come in from other places doing the “wiggle butt,” and that’s not what you want. Bottom line: outside of PBA competition where it’s a no-go, I’m saying yes—plug and redrill it. If you’re buying used equipment from a friend, family, or even a pro shop, plugging lets you actually learn the ball and find out if you like it. There’s nothing wrong with learning as you go.
