As someone who's fairly new to the Motiv brand. I find that the Evoke Mayhem to an essential part of my arsenal. Regardless if you're a league bowler or a tournament player. This piece does have a purpose that most can use and enjoy.
About This Video
In this video I’m breaking down the Motiv Evoke Mayhem and why I honestly think it should be in your bag. I’ve been throwing it since right around release (no, I’m not on staff), and I tested it mainly on fresh house shots across a few different centers. My Mayhem is drilled 65 x 4 3/4 x 40 as more of a control layout for me, and I kept it at the 2000 grit surface. What I see is a stronger, “benchmark-ish” look that still gives me shape—especially helpful right now with my ball speed being down from where I normally live.
Performance-wise, the Mayhem reminds me a lot of the Evoke Hysteria, just earlier. It’s not super chuggy like a Jackal Onyx, but it’s also not super clean—it sits in that upper middle category where it reads soon enough and still corners without being crazy. I compared it directly to my Jackal Onyx (same layout/surface) and the Onyx starts earlier and wants to go forward and flatten, while the Mayhem gives me that extra little “oomph” down lane. Then I threw the Hysteria at 4000 and it was cleaner with more continuation.
Bottom line: if you like the Hysteria shape and want the earlier, more controlled complement—especially for game one/two or tournament control—the Evoke Mayhem is a necessity-type piece.
