What’s going on everybody, it’s Brandon from Back After 10. In this one I’m answering the real question behind the Jackal Apex hype (and the drama): should you buy it, and why are some people not seeing the shape Motive promoted? I’ll be straight with you—my timing was a little late thanks to Ohio snow, closed centers, and me getting sick twice (yeah, this is that “lost my voice” video), but honestly it worked out because I got to test what people were debating.
I brought two Apex Jackals to the lane—same ball, two different layouts—to show you exactly how much layout can change reaction. My “standard” asym layout (65 x 4 3/4 x 40) gave me that smooth arc: it hits friction, peels off it, and drives, but it’s not that stop-and-yank hockey stick motion. Then I threw the pin-down version (pin in the middle finger), and even though it’s subtle, it gave me more continuation and a cleaner, rounder look downlane. The takeaway is simple: layouts do matter, and in this case it can be the difference between striking or not—winning or losing.
