In this video I’m reviewing something I called a “streamer”, but it’s really not one in the classic audiophile sense. The LincPlus LincStation N1 is a 6-bay SSD NAS (network attached storage), and the big point is simple: it won’t improve sonic quality, but it can massively improve how you enjoy and manage your music (and video) collection across multiple devices in your home. If you’re here only for sound changes, this one ain’t it—this is about workflow, convenience, and having your own library always available. I go through what a NAS actually does, how the N1 is laid out (six bays, thermal pads, always-running design), and what performance looks like in real life. In practice I saw around 80–90 Mbps over Ethernet and about 30–40 over Wi‑Fi, and the surprising part was streaming full 4K video over Wi‑Fi without issues. Setup can be confusing if you’ve never owned a NAS (expect 4–5 hours the first time), but once it’s running, it just runs—quietly too, with the most silent fan I’ve heard. My main takeaways: use backups (SSDs can die without warning), consider pairing drives for reliability, and don’t expose your NAS directly to the internet—use a VPN if you want remote access. For home file sharing, media streaming, and even small company use, I genuinely think the N1 is one of the best ways to manage files on a network.
