We live in a really happy era for music lovers, and in this video I’m reviewing the FiiO FT1 Pro — an open-back planar magnetic headphone priced at $199 that genuinely made me break my usual rule of not covering this bracket. I go over the build and comfort first: it’s a monochromatic, all-black design with a spring-loaded adjustment system, thick pads, low handling noise, and a “just natural” clamp that sits well on my average-sized head. It’s open-back with extra ventilation, so don’t expect isolation — it leaks like mini speakers on your head. Then I dig into the sound, where things get really fun. I called it V-shaped, but honestly it’s closer to a W: enhanced sub-bass and extension, a bit of a dip in upper bass/lower mids, then a forward midrange body for voices, followed by a recession in upper mids and a treble that goes straight to the moon. For my ears, it’s bright, open, and extremely crisp, with incredible resolution and detail that pulls information right to the foreground. It’s also easy to drive and plays nice with most dongles, entry-level DAC/amps, and sources, making it an easy recommendation — just remember the open-back leakage before you buy.
