Some music players are good, some are great, and some are truly brilliant—and in this video I’m reviewing one of the most interesting (and heaviest) DAPs of 2025: the iBasso DX340. It’s a $1,699 Android flagship that feels like a thick smartphone, but it’s built from stainless steel, so it lands around half a kilogram. I go over the big practical stuff too: the gorgeous display (honestly smartphone-level), Snapdragon 665 speed for apps like TIDAL, microSD support up to 2TB, the dual-battery reporting, and why I recommend using the included case (because it scratches easier than you’d expect). The core of the review is the sound—and the DX340 is all about that modular amplifier system. With the default amp (AM15), it’s the most detailed and revealing DAP I’ve heard so far, even compared to the Lotoo GT2: crisp, sharp, vivid, holographic, and very “exciting,” but also neutral and not forgiving if you want smooth. Then I swap to the AM16 tube module, which changes everything: warmer, more organic, smoother treble, more bloom and bass, but you lose some of that technical edge that makes the DX340 special. I also talk about the wall adapter “turbo” mode for hard-to-drive headphones (yes, Susvara-level), and I compare the DX340’s technical, expansive presentation to the softer, wetter character of the Lotoo GT2—especially if streaming matters to you.
