Today I bring the heat with the Fosi Audio V3 Mono, and it’s not the same story as the V3 Stereo I reviewed before. The big idea here is simple: these are true mini hi-fi monoblocks, sold per piece, so you can buy two for a normal stereo setup or more for a home cinema setup. At $170 per unit, it’s still entry-level money, but you get the classic monoblock advantage: better channel separation, cleaner imaging, and a more layered presentation—assuming you actually feed them a balanced signal over XLR. In this review I go through the practical stuff too: the input selector (XLR/RCA), the 3-way power switch (off/auto/on), gain options on RCA (I recommend 25 dB), and the power situation (32–48V, with the included 48V/5A brick). They run hot, and the auto mode clicks loudly when turning on/off (no speaker pop though), so placement matters—don’t stack them. Sonically, this is the most advanced sounding entry-level speaker amp solution I’ve heard so far. It’s dynamically uncompressed, punchy, revealing, and it can actually push floorstanders like my Pylon Audio Diamond 30 Mk II with real authority. Compared to many entry amps (and even some popular compact units), it brings better resolution, more dynamics, and more bass presence, landing surprisingly close to the kind of performance I associate with amps like the Burson Funk—at a much lower price.
