About This Video

It’s always interesting to see how a company evolves when they change the price segment they sell at, and in this video I review the ddHiFi Nyx PRO BC130—an IEM cable that sits around the $499 mark. For that money, the headline feature is the collaboration with LEC: you get modular connectors that let the same cable work with both 2-pin and MMCX, and you can also swap the source plug. In practice, that means one cable can cover basically everything on the market, including tricky stuff like Sennheiser IE900 where aftermarket options used to be a pain. I also talk comfort and handling. The braid is on the looser side (not ultra-tight), which helps with handling noise, but it also has a bit of a “memory” effect where it likes to bend at certain points. The ear hook area makes a sharp bend that sits securely and supports heavier IEMs well, though I don’t think comfort alone justifies the upgrade unless your stock cable is genuinely uncomfortable (IE900 is a prime example). Sound-wise, Nyx PRO is one of the more “audibly different” cables I’ve used: vivid, strong contrast between bass and treble, tighter bass with lower perceived distortion, sweeter vocals (especially female), and a more holographic stage with better separation. It leans a bit V/U-shaped by pulling back the lower mids, while keeping upper mids/treble present and lively—more like a live, engaging presentation than a narrow studio feel.
