About This Video

In this episode of The Planar Project, I’m reviewing the Sivga Nightingale Pro—Sivga’s $270 “upgrade” to the original Nightingale, a set that’s earned a bit of a cult following for being a weird (in a good way) mid-centric planar. I go through the usual stuff: the classic Sivga unboxing, the accessories (which, for nearly $300, I still think are a little lacking), the very nice 4.4mm-only cable, and the big build change—full machined aluminum shells with wooden faceplates that look classy as hell if you’re a fellow wood-grain enjoyer. Sound-wise, the Nightingale Pro is still a specialist tuning. I’d call it a bright-leaning, mid-centric, soundstagy planar with a light and delicate presentation. Bass is subdued but accurate (not the slammy planar experience some people expect), mids are clear and natural with forward female vocals, and the treble is mostly neutral but with that classic planar “sizzle” up top that can turn into stealth fatigue after a few albums. The big wins are stereo separation and perceived 3D stage—this thing can sound really open. I also compare it directly to the 7Hz x Crinacle Dioko Divine, SeeAudio Yume IV, Letshuoer S15, and the original Nightingale. My takeaway: it’s an evolution, not a replacement—better staging, more dynamic bass, more excitable female vocal harmonics, but still not an all-rounder for bass heads or treble-sensitive folks.
