In this one I’m down at Oval Renewables’ brand-new unit because, up until now, it’s basically been unprotected. Sam rang me and said, “Rich, I need your help,” so we did a quick survey and got them sorted with a proper setup: a fully monitored alarm system and fully monitored CCTV, 24/7, through our friends over at Aspire. The big win here is they’ll know before we know if someone’s trying to rob the place, which is exactly what you want when there’s loads of stock on site — and it even helps with getting insured in the first place. I also installed a two-door video intercom system because they’ve got a goods/main entrance and a separate visitor door. If someone turns up at the wrong door, they can be directed to the other intercom, and it all lands on a screen in the office (and through to the phone as well). We talk through why monitored systems matter, how we handle alerts so you don’t get spammed all day, and I show you the “magic hub” area where we’ve expanded the rack to accommodate CCTV, managed networking, intercom, Wi-Fi, and the CCTV monitor.
