We're back down in Northampton this week for a final update on the re-install of this beautiful smart home that was damaged to due to floods. Craig from the media team gives a quick overview of the project as Drew and Thomas from Comfae Homes finished up some of the final programming and installation to get this house to the same point that it was at before the flood damage. About This Video

In this final update from our Northampton smart home project, I’m back on-site after the property suffered flood damage, and we’ve been focused on getting the Control4 system reinstated to the exact point it was at before everything happened. I’m down here with Drew and Tom from Comfae Homes (one of our partners), and the big takeaway is that a proper re-install isn’t just “put it back” — it’s a chance to re-integrate cleanly, reconfigure, and upgrade where it makes sense. We’ve had to completely strip out the Control4 system, integrate everything back in again, and upgrade some components along the way. We’ve also upgraded the lighting to a Control4 lighting system, and we finished reconfiguring the door entry/intercom so it’s properly tied into Control4. One of the practical bits I love here is giving the client multiple door commands — open permanently, or timed options like a minute or five minutes — which is perfect for guests, deliveries, and day-to-day life. And to make sure we don’t get caught out again, we’ve added a flood sensor in the basement, plus we previously moved the rack out of the basement to under the first floor to reduce risk going forward.
