Hey friends—this is Day 3 (our last full day) of my Laguna Beach staycation with my two foster sons, Buster (just over one) and Dash (about two months). I’m sharing what vacation life actually looks like as a single millennial foster mom: early wake-ups, juggling naps and feedings, and figuring out what works so everyone can sleep. Biggest takeaway? If I can book a two-bedroom on trips, I’m doing it—because having Buster in his own room meant he slept through the night like he does at home, and Dash only woke up twice to eat (which is a miracle for my former “team no sleep” baby). We keep it real in this vlog—like me attempting muffins and finding out the oven doesn’t work (of course I had to find one thing wrong with an otherwise perfect place). We pivot, grab breakfast, and later I have special visitors: my sorority sister Shelby and her son Nathan come by in a safe way. I also chat a bit about being fully vaccinated (I volunteered as an observer at a vaccine site) and how I keep our bubble small while still letting the boys have sweet, normal moments. We end the day with Catalina Island views, donut joy, and me tidying up and closing out our vacation vibes.
