About This Video

In this video, I’m taking you back to the very beginning of how our family of 3 started forming—real time, in my apartment, on a random workday when I got “the call.” I’m a single foster mom in Los Angeles, and at the time I already had my little “potato boy” (Buster—nickname only, because I don’t share identifying info). Then my agency asked if I’d be open to taking a tiny second baby who was still at the hospital and needed a foster parent. I said yes (because I can’t say no), and I walk you through that nervous/excited waiting game: trying to finish work, prepping the house, squeezing in those last “just the two of us” moments, and wondering how on earth one person does two babies. You’ll see the late-night arrival chaos too—paperwork delays, me debating a nap, and then meeting the social worker at the curb because she didn’t have a bucket carrier. The hospital sent us home with helpful supplies and 24 hours of formula, which was a huge relief while I figured out next steps like getting him on WIC. I introduce his vlog name as Dash (thank you, Auntie Marina), and then we fast-forward to the adoption moment—watching the court make it official and hearing him declared my child, with all the rights of a natural parent and child. It’s emotional, it’s busy, and it’s very “this is foster care in real life.”
