About This Video

Good morning from Day 2 of our Laguna Beach staycation. It was just me up first with that gorgeous view… but I’m not gonna lie, we had a rough night because Buster doesn’t know where we are and he hasn’t slept anywhere besides home. I tried to keep it cozy and normal for the boys—comfy clothes, “first breakfast” (bottles, purees, snack bar), then a real breakfast on the porch with eggs, toast, and my latte once I could actually get coffee figured out. After a little poop-explosion reality check (yes, blowouts can happen in cloth—if the poop wants to come out, it will), we headed down to the beach. Dash got a bottle while I tried to keep him shaded, and Buster made it very clear he is not a beach man. The sand freaked him out, he clung to my leg, and honestly… same. We gave it a real try for the experience, but we called it and headed back. The rest of the day was all about reset and survival-mode routines: Shawn the Sheep for a calm, low-stimulation option, naps (separately—lesson learned), quick foster-mom prep like ordering outlet covers for future Airbnbs, and an easy dinner—store-bought tortellini, sauce, strawberries for Buster, and a little wine for me. Super chill day, but still very real life with two under two.
