Hello friends! In this June sewing vlog I’m finally, finally finishing my quilted jacket, and I’m so happy with how cosy and colourful it turned out. I’m working with the Tamarack Quilt Jacket pattern by Grainline Studio, and this video is all about getting those last steps done so it actually becomes a wearable jacket (rather than a “nearly finished” project that lives on the chair in my sewing room). I talk through the final construction bits, the little choices that make it feel polished, and the satisfying moment when it all comes together. I also share a few of the notions and finishing touches I love—like adding a Kylie and the Machine label (because it makes a handmade piece feel properly “done”), and using small clips to wrangle bulky layers while I sew. If you’re making a quilted coat or jacket, my biggest takeaway is: take your time with the finishing, because that’s where the comfort and the neatness really show. And yes… I’m still completely obsessed with the cosiness.
