About This Video

Welcome back to my House Block QAL—this is Block #3: “Two of the Same”, and we’re officially one-third of the way through the quilt-along, friends. In this video I walk you through making a really lovely, neat block where the tall houses dominate the design in such a pleasing way. It’s one of those blocks that looks super crisp in a sampler layout, but still gives you plenty of room to make it your own with fabric choices (especially if you want to play with contrast between the two houses). I’m using the pattern sheet as the guide for cutting and assembly, and I focus on keeping everything accurate so the block comes together nice and square. This is very much a “slow and steady, tidy seams” kind of block—perfect if you enjoy that satisfying, structured piecing. When you’ve made yours, I’d love to see it: share your finished block using #AmandasHouseBlockQAL and tag me on Instagram so we can all cheer each other on as the sampler grows. If you’re following along and have questions about this block or the series, you can always email me too.
