About This Video

In this video I’m jumping into Block #2 of my House Block QAL: “Three Terraces”. It’s the second block in our 9-block sampler quilt, and it’s such a cute, quirky little design that really rewards a bit of colour play. I walk you through making the block using the pattern sheet, and I chat about how you can keep it classic with coordinated prints, or go completely rogue and turn the shapes into little beach huts if that’s your vibe. The big takeaway with this block is that it’s a brilliant one for using patterned fabrics intentionally—think doors, roofs, and those fun “terrace” sections—without it feeling too busy. I also mention squaring up units (especially if you’re working with HSTs and want everything to behave nicely), and I’ve linked my squaring-up tutorial to help you keep your block crisp and accurate. As always, I’d love to see what you make—share your blocks with #AmandasHouseBlockQAL and tag me on Instagram so we can all cheer each other on. Happy sewing, friends! xx
