About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing my 2026 houseplant trend predictions—because last year was the first time I did this, and honestly… a lot of my 2025 predictions ended up being correct. So I’m back with what I think is next: where plant collecting is headed, what’s going to be “in” and “out,” and how the way we buy plants is continuing to change. A big theme for 2026 is a shift from being a “plant collector” to being a “plant curator.” I’m not shaming anyone with shelves-on-shelves setups (do what makes you happy), but I do think more people are going to downsize due to burnout and start styling plants more intentionally in their homes. Along with that, I predict a stronger push toward easier care and lower-maintenance setups—things like fewer moss poles, more efficient watering routines, and better pest-prevention habits. I also get into pricing, because I know everyone wants to talk about it. Tissue culture is going to keep pushing prices down on a lot of trendy plants (especially variegated monsteras and other aroids), but I also think we’re hitting a point where some “older it-plants” may slowly creep back up as demand returns and supply drops. And yes—my wild card for 2026 is orchids. I think they’re about to have a moment with the non-orchid crowd, even if some people burn out fast like we saw with begonias.
