About This Video

Aloha, friends—this video is my “secret repots” confession. I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you, but two things happened: I’ve been intentionally doing more plant care off-camera so it stays therapeutic, and sometimes I hit full “oh crap, I’ve got to fix this right now” mode and I’m not setting up lights and microphones—I’m rescuing the plant. I’m giving you updates on a few repots and rehabs, starting with my Dischidia “Million Hearts” that came in those weird dense sponge plugs. I left them too long, the roots started to rot, and removing that plug material was painfully tedious (and yes, I broke roots). I sized down to a small clear pot in my epiphyte mix, adjusted watering based on where the remaining roots actually were, and waited it out—now I’m seeing new roots and it’s even flowering. Then we check in on my Philodendron cordatum, which was massively rootbound in a shallow pot (like a cone/drill-bit root situation), so I root-pruned hard, moved it into a deeper pot with my forest floor mix, and planted two propagated “babies” back in to help it fill out. Finally, my Philodendron Brasil got dry-rotted because I went too long between waterings while it was already overdue for a repot—my fault—so I stripped old soil, removed dead roots, switched to forest floor mix, and I’m watching it rebound with fresh roots and new growth.
