About This Video

Aloha you guys—today I’m back at my friends Chris and Megan’s house for a six‑month rescue update after my earlier “plant doctor takeover.” We’re doing a full walkthrough to compare what their plants looked like when I first found rot, gray mold, underwatering, and awkward cover-pot situations… versus how they look now. I point out the wins (and the couple of losses), explain what changed, and share the same practical stuff I always preach: better soil, better watering habits, and not overthinking light when the plant hasn’t even moved. The biggest glow-ups are the snake plants and the raven ZZ. The snake plants are finally pushing wider, healthier new leaves (those thin leaves were a big clue something was off), and the worst snake plant—the one that was literally rotting—actually survived after we cut mushy stem, ditched water propagation, and moved it into soil. The raven ZZ is also putting out a surprising amount of new growth even far from a window, which is exactly why I love that plant. We also talk about what it’s like maintaining plants through real life (Chris was temporarily immobile and still kept things alive), plus why some succulent props just don’t “take” sometimes even when you do everything right. Overall, the takeaway is simple: thorough watering less often, drainage/soil that makes sense, and patience can turn a “certain death” situation into thriving plants.
