In this Kaohsiung vlog, I’m taking you to the #1 place everyone tells you to visit: Cijin Island (aka my very chaotic bike ride + beach picnic day). I get there by ferry and bring my u-bike along (you can also rent bikes on the island), then cycle the loop because it’s not that big. The beach sand in Taiwan is darker than what I’m used to, and the air quality was pretty foggy that day, but I still tried to show you as much as I could—especially the Tunnel of Stars (I’d honestly recommend walking it because it gets super pedestrian-heavy). Along the beach, it’s basically a trail of Instagram spots, including the famous “Rainbow Church,” plus a bunch of art installations. After Cijin, I share my favorite Kaohsiung must-dos for solo slow travelers who want easy logistics and good photo ops. I loved how bike-friendly Kaohsiung felt (wider roads, less “am I about to get taken out by scooters?” energy), and the MRT is actually convenient even with just two lines. I also cover Lotus Pond for the Dragon & Tiger Pagodas, Ruifeng Night Market (the only night market I personally recommend here), the Houyi Shopping District, Sanfong Temple, the Dome of Light at Formosa Boulevard Station, and Pier-2 Art Center.
