Good morning from Kyoto—this vlog is basically me doing a “whirlwind but make it slow-travel-ish” two-day adventure where I follow my curiosity more than a perfect itinerary. I start with an obanzai breakfast (Kyoto is surrounded by mountains, so the fresh veggie situation is unreal), then head to a traditional Washi paper-making Airbnb Experience where I make four postcards and learn how the craft is literally becoming a dying art. After that, I wander Gion, get tempted by approximately a million matcha dessert shops, and luck into a walk-in at KichiKichi Omurice. Yes, it’s touristy and very social-media-coded, but it’s also genuinely fun and surprisingly intimate. On day two, I do an early morning Fushimi Inari hike and reward myself with a warm fermented rice drink mixed with ginger (so soothing when it’s chilly). I also brave my first public bus in Japan… and I’m pretty sure I paid double, but honestly, still cheaper than a taxi. I stop by Kinkaku Temple (kind of underwhelming for me), then do a tea ceremony + kimono rental experience that’s super informative and photo-friendly. I end the vlog chasing a Kyoto sunset from a viewpoint I found online, and my biggest takeaway is: please don’t follow my exact route—use my stops, then group them by location so your feet don’t hate you.
