About This Video

This is my last Asia vlog (ahhh) — I’m leaving Korea after four months of solo travel through Taiwan, Japan, China, and South Korea. On my final day in Korea, I’m mostly packing and reflecting, because honestly… I don’t feel like I ā€œdid Korea justice.ā€ After traveling nonstop for so long, having my own room (instead of a hostel) made me slow way down: sleeping in, watching YouTube, eating while watching TV, and just letting my brain breathe. It was really nice, but it also meant I filmed less than I originally planned — and I also bought way more than intended (hello, Olive Young haul). I also walk you through the Korea tax refund process for foreigners, because I was deeply confused and had to figure it out in real time. I tried a downtown tax refund kiosk first (orange kiosk near my place), scanned my passport and receipts, chose card refund, and then still had to validate my tax-free forms at the airport. I explain the annoying part: if your refund is over 75,000 won (or you get randomly selected), customs may need to see the items — which affects when you can check your luggage. Then I take you with me on a short 7-hour Taipei layover: rainy, humid, but still worth it for last-minute souvenir shopping and getting my favorite Taiwanese foods (and fruit!) one more time before heading back to the US. Mostly, it’s a recap of what I learned about my limits, listening to my body, and how I actually like to slow travel when it’s just me.
