Hi everyone! In this fifth instalment of my Rank & Rate series (originally created by Jess over at Colouring Bumblebee), I’m ranking my Kanoko Egusa collection from least favourite to most favourite—three Colouring Heaven specials and three of her published books. Quick disclaimer (because I always feel like it needs saying): if something’s at the bottom of the pile, it doesn’t mean I hate it at all. It just means I’m less likely to reach for it right now compared to the ones at the top. I start with Colouring Heaven: Secret World of Animals special in sixth, mainly because it has more “wallpapery” pages that I’m just not drawn to, even though there are still some adorable scenes (like the little mice looking over a town with a suitcase). Then I move through Enchanted Animals and Animal Wonderland, sharing my five favourite images in each—lots of bunnies, cosy scenes, and very seasonal picks (I was clearly feeling that late summer into autumn vibe). In the top three, I get into the published books: Kingdom of Curious Creatures in third, Symphony of Cute Animals in second (with a few whips and a completed page), and Leon’s Journey in first—partly because I want to colour every page, and partly because it’s extra special to me since Kanoko signed it. I also chat about my character references and why certain pages (like the border collie) are really personal.
