Good morning from Taipei, Taiwan — cabin crew layover edition. In this vlog, I’m continuing my “24-hour series” because that’s literally how my layovers work, and I brought you with me to Ximending (Seimending) for a full walk-eat-shop kind of day. I landed the night before, slept early, then headed out around 9am… only to realize it’s summer and it’s even hotter than Malaysia. I was sweating, trying not to get even more tan, and basically hunting for anything indoor with air con whenever I could. I started with the MRT (and yes, the ticket machine didn’t take card, so I had to go to the counter), then tried to find a proper Taiwanese breakfast — but a lot of places only take cash. I finally found one spot that accepted card and got soy milk, xiaolongbao, and a pancake roll with youtiao. After that, I wandered Ximending, popped into Watsons and Don Don Donki (the quietest Donki I’ve ever seen), and went to Eslite bookstore to hunt for an adult coloring book… but it was even more expensive than Malaysia. I ended the day queueing under the sun for Xing Fu Tang boba, then grabbed oden and Taiwanese herb-marinated eggs back near the station to bring to my hotel for dinner.
