About This Video

Good morning from Shanghai! This is my second time here, but it’s my first time properly heading to The Bund, so I planned a full solo day out (cabin crew layover style) starting with one priority: food, because I skipped dinner again and I was way beyond hungry. I took the train (my hotel was literally a 5-minute walk to the station), walked through a really pretty shopping street, and tried a small local restaurant I found on Xiaohongshu. Ordering was the usual China way—scan the QR code and pay with Alipay—and I went for white rice, braised eggplant, and tang bao (pork). It was authentic, not spicy at all, and I even requested less oil and less salt. 10/10, I would recommend. After that, I wandered around East Nanjing Road, popped into malls for air con (it was humid and hot), and did a little window shopping—yes, I tried Uniqlo but didn’t find any special deals. The weather got dramatic with thunder and rain, so I kept ducking into places for shelter, then continued once it calmed down. I finally got to The Bund and saw the Shanghai Tower view, then walked to City God Temple/Yuyuan Old Street where it gets super touristy but the architecture is so beautiful. I ended the day with snacks, the yogurt pudding I loved from my Beijing vlog, a no-sugar milk tea to bring back for my flight to Dubai, and… a mini tumbler because I love tumblers (no guilt, okay).
