Comfort is solid too: the tips are firm but not too firm, so I can wear them for long sessions without my ears getting annoyed. The real story is the sound. The KE4 (2DD + 2BA hybrid) comes off warm, classy, and smooth, with zero harshness across the frequency range. It’s more “reference-leaning” than “super fun,” meaning there isn’t a ton of exaggerated thump or extra top-end sheen—but the detail is still there and nothing sounds muffled. For hip-hop, I noticed it doesn’t slam like some sets, yet I’m not sitting there wishing for more bass either. Then I pair it with the Allegro Mini DAC, and that’s where things get wild. Compared to the M3 MacBook Pro headphone jack, the difference was night and day—more sub-bass extension, better depth, and a noticeable jump in dynamic range. If you want a balanced, pleasing tuning around $200 that’s hard to match right now, this combo is seriously compelling.
