In this video I’m checking out what might be the most affordable Hall effect keyboard that’s actually aluminum: the Click Clack x Kochi Hummingbird68. For $85 (before shipping), you’re getting a pre-built 68% board with magnetic Hall effect switches, a CNC’d aluminum case, and a design that honestly punches way above the price. Mine is the green “Verdant” colorway—which is perfect for me because I’m an Oregon Ducks rep—but there are four other colors if you want a different vibe. I talk through the build choices too: it’s a one-piece case with the plate and PCB screwed straight into the top, and they clearly prioritized performance over flex to avoid accidental triggers when you’re using rapid trigger. The rubber feet are some of the best I’ve seen, and the logo engraving is minimal but still clean. The Elvin Blink HE switches feel function-first, and yeah—HE sound still isn’t universally “amazing” yet, but this board doesn’t sound bad at all. Out of the box, the stabilizers were rough, so I recommend adding a lot more lube (or swapping stabs if you absolutely have to). Latency is very good, it supports up to 8,000Hz polling, and the PCB clock goes up to 144MHz. If you want an affordable HE board that doesn’t cut corners on design, this one feels like a no-brainer—especially if you’re wondering why people are still paying 2–3x for plastic options.
