As a huge fan of the first film, I had high hopes for this sequel, especially given the incredible world-building of the climate-based districts. While the film retains the charm of its characters and delivers a solid, positive message, the final execution left me feeling underwhelmed. In this review, I explain why the storytelling felt disconnected and whether this sequel manages to live up to the legacy of the original. The biggest issue I found was the pacing and structure. Unlike the first Zootopia, which had a strong, driving mystery, this sequel felt like it was trying to pack too many small elements and quick jokes into a short timeframe. It often felt like watching several short episodes stitched together rather than a fluid movie. I dive into the "story philosophy" here—discussing how the film seems to cater to shorter attention spans with flashy, hectic scenes that unfortunately sacrifice the depth and connection between story beats. Despite the 2.5/5 score, there are still bright spots, including the voice acting and the expansion of the city's unique environments. If you’re watching with younger children, it’s still a fun, vibrant experience with a great lesson, but long-time fans might find the "all over the place" edit a bit jarring. Let me know in the comments: did you think the sequel was better than the first, or do you agree that the pacing was too jumpy? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - Movie Night: Zootopia 2 00:31 - Initial Thoughts & Disappointment 00:58 - The First Movie vs. The Sequel 01:27 - Pacing & Storytelling Critique 03:00 - Flashy Scenes vs. Deep Connection 03:56 - My Final Score: 2.5 / 5 04:21 - World-Building & Climate Districts 05:25 - Who is this movie for? 05:49 - Looking Forward to "Hoppers" ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
