Night Shyamalan another chance, so I sat down to watch his new movie, Trap, on Netflix. I’ve been a fan of his early work, but like many of you, I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of his "twist" endings over the years. This film features Josh Hartnett as an antagonist—a serial killer taking his daughter to a concert that turns out to be a massive police sting operation. The first half is actually a fantastic, high-stakes thriller, and Josh Hartnett proves he’s still got the talent that made him a star years ago. Unfortunately, once the characters leave the stadium, the movie takes a turn that I found boring and predictable. I dive into the "nepotism" aspect of the casting, as the co-star is the director’s own relative, and explain why her performance felt disconnected from the story's tension. Quoting reviewer Jeremy Jahns (who you call Jeremy Jones), I discuss why the best way to watch this movie might be to simply quit halfway through. If you’re a fan of Shyamalan’s classics like The Sixth Sense or even his less-loved projects like After Earth, you might find this review interesting. We talk about whether this director can ever truly reinvent himself or if he’s stuck in the "twist ending" box forever. Have you seen Trap yet? Let me know if you agree with my rating in the comments! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - The Shyamalan Decline 02:12 - Josh Hartnett’s Return 03:00 - The Concert Premise 03:30 - A Strong First Half 04:03 - Where it Falls Apart 05:09 - Casting & Nepotism 05:44 - The Half-Movie Rule 06:33 - Final Rating & Thoughts ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
