You can book 1on1 coaching sessions. Contact me via email ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ On YouTube, the golden rule for growth is always to niche down. Whether it’s camera reviews, "how to grow your channel" advice, or everyday carry bags, focusing on one topic is how you build a massive audience. But in today's video, I want to talk about the Paradox of Niching Down. From both a creator and consumer perspective, staying in one lane can quickly become stale, leading to content that feels like it’s just regurgitating the same information over and over. I look at my own experience with my main channel versus this second channel. This space is "all over the place"—one day I'm talking about mental health and GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), the next I'm reviewing Falling Skies or discussing Muay Thai training. While this lack of niche makes it harder to be "successful" in terms of views and subscribers, it’s exactly what keeps me interested in making videos. I dive into the struggle of being a viewer who wants to support a creator but feels "bored" by the predictable nature of highly successful niche channels. Is it better to have a channel with 100k subscribers where you post the same motorcycle picture every day, or a smaller community where you have the freedom to ramble about whatever is on your mind? I’m exploring the future of commentary channels and the rare creators who manage to be successful just by being themselves. I’d love to hear from you: do you prefer a channel that sticks to one topic, or do you like the variety of a "lifestyle" approach? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - The Niching Down Paradox 00:55 - GAS & The Review Cycle 01:52 - Regurgitated Information 04:09 - Why This Channel "Fails" 05:29 - The Boring Side of Success 06:33 - Predictability vs. Personality 07:58 - The MKBHD Effect 09:29 - Finding My Own Space 10:55 - Your Thoughts on Variety? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
