From the consumer perspective, YouTube offers an almost unlimited library of free knowledge and entertainment, effectively acting as a free search platform and even free cloud storage for our private travel videos. From the creator perspective, the ability to earn money is a "cherry on top" or "sugar coating." I argue that creators often complain too much because they forget that success on YouTube is like running a freelance business: rates change, income fluctuates, and there are no guarantees. While YouTube needs creators to survive, it's vital that we view the income opportunity as a privilege, not an entitlement.
