In today’s vlog, I dive deep into the psychology of spending and the reality of Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) in 2026. With the global economy struggling and inflation hitting everything from groceries to gas, it's more important than ever to be intentional with our finances. I share three recent stories of people spending money they don't have on things they don't use, and how that sparked a realization about my own habits as a tech and bag reviewer. I introduce my personal framework for fighting impulse buys: the Three Question Filter. Before you click "buy" on that new iPhone, Samsung Fold, or DJI Pocket 4, you need to ask: 1) Do I actually need it? 2) Do I truly have the funds (without sacrificing emergency savings)? and 3) Do I already own something that fulfills this requirement? Most of the time, the device in your pocket is more than "good enough," and the urge to upgrade is simply a result of effective marketing making us feel outdated. Finally, I share a "hack" I’ve implemented to satisfy the urge to spend without wasting money. I talk about redirecting the dopamine hit—instead of buying a new gadget, I take that same amount of money and invest it into an ETF or savings account. By clicking "buy" on a share rather than a product, I still get the satisfaction of the transaction, but I’m building a future rather than a pile of dust-gathering gear. Note: This is not financial advice, just a look at my personal journey! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - The Dopamine Hit 01:03 - Real-Life Spending Stories 03:01 - The State of the Economy 05:12 - Confessions of a Reviewer 06:40 - The GAS Cycle 07:47 - 3 Questions to Ask Before Buying 09:31 - The "Outdated" Tech Trap 10:50 - Acknowledging the Dopamine Urge 12:16 - My Investment Redirection Hack 14:51 - Retaining Value vs. Gathering Dust 16:11 - Final Advice & Outro ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
