Contact me via email ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This year, 2025, has been difficult for many—especially for freelancers, who are still dealing with the long-term impacts of past years and a tough economy (0:35). On top of that, I'm dealing with a prolonged legal battle that continues to cause financial hardship (1:04), and the added stress of the Christmas season (2:18). This video is my personal reminder to myself—and to you—on how to deal with overwhelming times: It's OK to Acknowledge the Pain (4:05): It is completely valid and necessary to acknowledge that you are struggling, frustrated, and that everything "sucks" (4:30). Do not let others (or their unsolicited advice) make you feel like your emotions are unjustified (8:01). The Power of Intrapersonal Comparison (3:26): It is very easy to compare ourselves to people around us—like a friend going on multiple vacations (5:02)—and feel bad. Instead, I try to focus on intrapersonal comparison: Look at Your Younger Self: Compare who you are now to who you were a year ago (3:26). Acknowledge how much you have grown, how much stronger you have become, and that you have tools now that you lacked then (6:10). Resetting Perspective (6:46): This realization doesn't solve the problems, but it gives you a crucial "reset" and a sense of power and a shifted perspective to face current challenges. The Problem with Toxic Comparison (9:04): I strongly disagree with the common, toxic advice: "It's not that bad, others have it worse." Avoid Misfortune: You should never compare your situation or make yourself feel better by the misfortune of someone else (9:04). Your struggle is valid, regardless of whether someone else is worse off. I am thankful to be one of the few freelancers working right now (7:31) and I appreciate the small joys like going to the gym.
