While this is true for many products, I argue there are cases where comfort and usability should be the top priority—especially with writing instruments. I own high-end titanium and brass pens, but because I press so hard when writing, these hard materials become too uncomfortable for long periods. Instead, I choose the affordable, plastic Faber-Castell Grip Matic 0.7 mechanical pencil. For my use case—quick work notes and journaling in my Orbit Key and Leuchtturm notebooks—the rubberized grip surface (2:19) is invaluable. The plastic build means it might not last as long as metal in an EDC environment, but the increased comfort makes the writing experience far more enjoyable and quick. What items do you use that are cheaper but better suited for your personal needs than the expensive, high-quality alternatives? Let me know in the comments! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 0:00 - Intro: "Buy once, cry once" vs. "Buy cheap, buy twice" 0:27 - The appeal of high-quality, fancy pens 0:51 - Why I can't use titanium/metal pens comfortably 1:25 - My favorite pen: The Faber-Castell Grip Matic 0.7 1:46 - Why I prefer pencils over gel pens for my notebooks 2:19 - The importance of the rubberized grip surface for comfort 2:51 - The argument for usability over high quality 3:30 - A plastic pen's durability vs. comfort tradeoff 4:25 - Question to the audience: What items do you choose for usability? 4:54 - Linking the pencil and Orbit Key notebook 5:36 - Outro ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
