With the DJI Action 4 and Action 5 Pro seeing massive holiday discounts, it's tempting to think that a new camera is the key to better content. Instead of caving to the sales, I’m doing a "reality check" test with the gear I already own: the Insta360 One R with the 4K module (0:42). The Challenge (1:16): I’m filming this on a foggy, flat-lit winter day with everything on auto settings—ISO, Shutter, and Exposure. No external mic, just the camera at arm's length. This is the ultimate test of whether "good enough" gear can still do the job in 2025. The Price of Temptation (1:39): I discuss the current deals—the DJI Action 4 at €190 and the Action 5 Pro at €290 (2:00). While these are great prices for 10-bit color and better sensors, I have to ask: will they actually change the story I’m telling? Acknowledging the Limits (2:12): The Insta360 One R is 8-bit, lacks a great Log mode, and I’m not even using ND filters today. But by reviewing this footage on a computer (2:34), I can make an objective decision based on quality rather than marketing hype.
