Contact me via email ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I know it’s "unfair" to review a movie I didn't even finish, but after watching the first half of James Gunn’s Superman, I was too annoyed to continue. While I genuinely believe the casting for Superman was a great choice and I loved being thrown into a world where metahumans like Mr. Terrific and Green Lantern already exist, the execution fell flat for me. The film suffers from massive "exposition dumps" where characters like Lex Luthor literally narrate their motivations and backstories directly to the audience, breaking the golden rule of "show, don't tell".Visually, the film feels like a glossy, high-polish carryover from Guardians of the Galaxy, which works for Marvel but feels out of place for the grittier DC world I loved in The Batman. The CGI, while high quality, lacks weight—specifically in a jarring scene where Lex Luthor doesn't even flinch as robots fight inches from his face. I also discuss how the signature James Gunn humor often undermines serious philosophical and ethical dilemmas, such as whether Superman should act as judge, jury, and executioner. With "superhero fatigue" hitting hard in 2026, I was hoping for something as fresh as Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, but this felt like a desperate attempt to copy the Marvel formula. Is the DCU already in trouble, or did I just miss the good part? Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned for my upcoming review of Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which was a much better experience on HBO Max! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - Why I Stopped Watching Superman 01:49 - A Great Casting Choice 03:45 - The Problem with Exposition Dumps 05:59 - CGI & The "Marvel Style" Look 07:18 - Lex Luthor's Lack of Reaction 09:25 - How Humor Undermines the Story 11:50 - Comparing Man of Steel Character Depth 13:29 - Superhero Movie Fatigue in 2026 15:28 - DC's Identity Crisis 16:17 - Next Up: Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
