This book has always been one of my favorites because it marks the moment the series truly pivots away from being "just for children" and introduces darker, more complex storylines that adult listeners can really sink their teeth into. The full cast format continues to impress, with every character being brought to life by their own unique actor and incredible Dolby Atmos sound design that feels immersive, especially when listening in the car. However, if you are listening to these in order, be prepared for a very jarring experience. Between book three and four, the main protagonists—Harry, Ron, and Hermione—have been recast with much older actors to reflect their transition into their teenage years. While it makes sense logically, hearing Harry Potter sound like a 22-year-old can feel disconnected from the character’s age in the story. I even discuss the recasting of minor characters like Colin Creevey, whose older voice feels out of sync with his naive, "fanboy" personality. Overall, despite the initial shock of the voice changes, I still highly recommend this edition. The technical issues I noticed in earlier books, like the inconsistent recording quality of Dumbledore's lines, seem to have been resolved. If you can get past the "puberty pivot," the Goblet of Fire Full Cast Edition is an amazing way to experience this pivot point in the Wizarding World.
