I’m currently midway through the series (diving deep into season 3), and I wanted to answer that question for anyone looking for a solid sci-fi binge. Produced by Steven Spielberg, this show takes a unique approach to the alien invasion genre by starting after the world has already fallen. It follows the "2nd Mass," a group of civilian and military survivors starting a rebellion against their alien occupiers. While it’s an older series, the storytelling in the early seasons is surprisingly addictive. In this review, I talk about the "Season 1 Hurdle." Let’s be real—the CGI doesn't hold up to 2026 standards, and some of the characters make pretty questionable decisions early on. However, if you can push through the first ten episodes, Season 2 and Season 3 really pick up the pace with constant surprises and better production value. You’ll also notice the "commercial break" pacing that was common for TV back then, which can be a bit jarring if you're used to modern streaming originals, but it’s a small price to pay for such a compelling story. If you’re a fan of gritty survival dramas or classic alien sci-fi, Falling Skies is definitely a journey worth taking. It’s got that nostalgic 2011 vibe but with a core story that still feels relevant today.
