Contact me via email ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ After feeling the constant pressure of social media, view counts, and doomscrolling, I decided to make three crucial changes to reduce my mental load, and the benefits have been immediate and profound. The Three Mental Health Changes: Delete the YouTube Studio App (0:57): As a creator, the app creates a constant mental loop of performance anxiety. Not knowing the numbers instantly has cured my need to constantly check views and subscribers, which was genuinely bad for my mental health (1:30). More Retro Gaming (2:04): I've replaced doomscrolling on Instagram with dedicated retro gaming (currently Chrono Trigger). This isn't just replacing one screen with another; it's replacing a source of negative content and endless notifications with an activity that requires focus and gives my brain a clean break (5:15). Prioritize Audible (3:41): I've started listening to audiobooks (like Harry Potter) more than watching YouTube news/commentary. This reduces negativity and feeds into my gear acquisition syndrome (GAS) less often (3:04). The Result? I feel lighter, more relaxed, and can finally handle moments of quiet reflection, like running on the ellipse trainer without needing a distraction (7:03). Don't let society shame you for finding an enjoyable escape—it's essential for getting your brain free to tackle serious tasks with a fresh perspective (8:41). ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 0:00 - The three habits I changed to improve my mental health 0:30 - Change #1: Deleting the YouTube Studio app (The two-sided sword) 0:57 - The mental loop and performance anxiety of checking stats 1:30 - Why checking numbers is bad for mental health 2:04 - Change #2: Playing more retro games (Avoiding Instagram/doomscrolling) 3:04 - The problem with YouTube consumption (GAS and negativity) 3:41 - Change #3: Prioritizing Audible (Audiobooks) 4:14 - The benefits: Feeling more relaxed and disconnected 4:40 - The trade-off: I reply to comments slower without the app 5:15 - The benefit of gaming without social media notifications 7:03 - My brain is shifting: Working out without needing music/distraction 7:51 - Addressing the counter-argument: Replacing bad screens with better ones 8:41 - Addressing society's view on "wasting time" on gaming 9:23 - Final summary: Delete the app, replace bad media with enjoyable media 9:43 - Actionable advice for creators and doomscrollers 10:33 - Outro ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
