About This Video

To get this bottle, you’ve gotta be in the Westward Whiskey Club—so in this video I’m cracking open the Members Only 2026 release: an American Single Malt finished in PX Sherry casks, coming in at 100 proof. I’m bottle 948, and I’ll be honest, I totally forgot I even signed up for the base level until I got the shipping notification. But I like Westward a lot, and they’ve been on a streak for me so far—plus their bottles are some of the best-looking on the shelf. On the nose, it’s super sherry right out of the bottle: raisin, wine, grape, and some spice. In the glass I get that same raisiny/grapey, whiny profile, but with a vanilla wafer note and a little baking spice behind it. The palate is definitely wine-finish forward, and for me that’s always hit or miss. After a few sips, I landed on “good, nothing wrong with it,” but it’s also probably my least favorite Westward I’ve had so far—especially compared to stuff like the Westward Cask Strength and the Milestone. In the end, I rate it as an average pour—C tier. If you’re in the mood for something whiny without actually pouring a glass of wine, this PX finish scratches that itch, but I don’t think it’s anything special.
