About This Video

I’ve been using the Lumix S5 for a full year now—on promo work, workshops, BTS, travel, my YouTube videos, and even a low-budget feature film—and I’ve genuinely grown to love it. In many ways it’s defined my year as a filmmaker, and it might honestly be my favorite camera ever. In this video I recap why I bought it in the first place (after dealing with heavier, more “hassle” cameras and a Pocket 6K setup that needed cages, monitors, V-mounts, SSDs, and cables), and why the S5 made me want to shoot again. The biggest reason is the IBIS. For me it works flawlessly 98% of the time and looks natural, which means I can run a simple setup—just a body and a lens—without micro-jitter paranoia. I also talk about the image quality: the S5 looks more organic than some newer overprocessed Lumix bodies, has impressive dynamic range, and the V-Log files are easy to grade (I even fix bad white balance in post). On top of that, it shoots 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 in H.264 with small file sizes, so I save money on cards and storage. I also cover anamorphic support (internal desqueeze and anamorphic IBIS), real-world projects I’ve shot with it, the negatives (30-minute limit in 4K and rolling shutter), and the budget gear I pair with it—like the XLR module and a few small, cheap lenses I actually travel with.
