About This Video

Here are my thoughts about Chrome OS Flex by Google, and I’m also going to show you the full install step by step. I installed it and used it, and the best way I can describe it is: it’s basically the Chrome browser turned into an operating system. It’s very lightweight, fast, and simple—perfect for browsing, surfing the net, watching YouTube, and living inside Google apps like Drive, Sheets, and Meet. Just remember: it’s heavily reliant on the internet, and you’re kind of limited to the Google ecosystem. The big use case here is reviving older laptops and desktops—especially those that are too slow for the Microsoft environment, or hardware that won’t be supported by Windows 11. In this video, I walk you through creating the USB installer using the Chromebook Recovery Utility (you need an 8GB USB or higher), booting your PC (I used a Dell OptiPlex rated for Windows 7), and then choosing whether to “Try it” or “Install it.” If you install, it will delete everything on the drive, so make a backup first. After install, you connect to Wi‑Fi, run the initial updates, sign in with your Google account, and you’re good—B bam, that’s how easy it is.
