Instead of letting your solar panel sit unused most of the time, you can turn it into a daily power source for your EcoFlow River 3 and reduce your reliance on grid electricity. I configured my setup so that solar energy is used first, allowing the River 3 to charge and power devices throughout the day using the EcoFlow 110W portable solar panel. This means you can save some bucks on electricity while making the most out of your solar investment. One feature that makes this setup even smarter is EcoFlow’s Backup Reserve. With this feature, you can reserve a portion of your battery capacity so that the power station doesn’t fully drain during normal use. When a power outage happens, the reserved battery level ensures that you still have emergency backup power available for essential devices like routers, lights, or phones. 💡 What you'll learn in this video: How to maximize the EcoFlow 110W solar panel for daily use How to configure the River 3 to prioritize solar charging How the Backup Reserve feature protects your battery for emergencies A practical way to save on electricity while staying prepared for outages This setup is perfect for people who want a simple solar solution at home without installing a full solar system. With just a portable panel and a power station, you can already start using clean energy daily while keeping backup power ready when you need it most. About This Video

In this video, I unbox and test the EcoFlow 110W portable solar panel and show you how I’m using it for more than just camping. It’s a four-panel foldable design, comes with a bag, and it’s rated IP68 so it can handle harsh environments. I set it up outside in a quick “real-life” scenario (not a perfect mount), plugged it into my EcoFlow River 3, and checked what kind of solar input I can actually get. In my test, I was seeing around 60–70W most of the time, and I explain why you shouldn’t expect a constant full 110W unless your angle and sun conditions are dialed in. The key part is the River 3 configuration. By default, it can prioritize grid charging, so I show the setting you need: Backup Reserve. I set my reserve to 70%, which means when my battery is above 70%, I’m basically running on solar first; if it drops below that (like at night), the grid kicks in to make sure I still have backup power. The result is simple: during the day my router and Starlink are essentially running “free” from solar, and I’m squeezing the juice out of a panel that would otherwise sit unused most of the time.
