About This Video

In this video, I install the TP-Link Tapo DL110 smart deadbolt step by step—from unboxing all the way to testing it on the door. This is actually my first time installing a smart door lock, so I made it beginner-friendly and I show you the real process: checking what’s inside the box, going through the manuals page by page, and doing the basic door adjustments so the lock will fit properly. If you’re coming from a traditional deadbolt and you want keyless entry, this is a practical upgrade you can do yourself. I walk you through the hardware part first—measuring, fitting, and making sure nothing is blocking the hole where the lock needs to sit. In my case, I had to remove and reposition a few things until the screws and the lock body lined up correctly. After the physical install, I scan the QR code from the user manual, install the TP-Link Tapo app, register an account, and add the device. Once it’s connected, I show how I register fingerprints (mine first, then my kid’s), plus I point out the backup options like the manual key if electronics fail. Finally, I test locking/unlocking from the fingerprint sensor and the inside thumb-turn, and I highlight that you can customize settings like auto-lock time inside the app.
