About This Video

Hey what’s up guys— in this video I show you how you can point a domain name to a remote server or even a local server, step-by-step, using cPanel. In my setup, I’m running a web service on a specific IP address, and I don’t want people accessing it by typing the raw IP. I want them to use a clean domain or subdomain like challenge.kcp… so it’s easier for users and it looks more professional. I start inside the cPanel Domains section where you can create a subdomain under your parent domain (same idea whether your domain is from FastComet or any other provider—once you’re in cPanel, the workflow is pretty similar). After creating the subdomain, it will generate the directory automatically, but it won’t point to your target server yet. The real work happens in Zone Editor: I go to Manage for the correct domain, filter the A records, find the subdomain entry (and the www version), then edit the A record IP to match the server I actually want—this can be a VPS, dedicated server, or something running inside your network. Finally, I save, test both the www and non-www versions, and I also remind you that DNS propagation can be instant or it can take a bit of time.
