About This Video

In this video, I take a look at the Motorola T114TP that I got from Amazon. It’s a simple 2-way radio set that’s really fun for outdoor adventures, games, and just keeping in touch with the kids when they’re outside. Motorola says it can go up to 25 km, but I also explain the real-world part—range depends on terrain, so if you’ve got barriers, don’t expect to hit that max all the time. I already unboxed it and we used it for about two weeks, so this isn’t just a quick first impression. I show the size and feel in the hand (it fits the palm nicely), the LCD display for volume and channel, and the basic controls—power, volume, channel selection, and the push-to-talk button. I also demo TX/RX while calling my son outside, plus the ring button feature, which is honestly very cool and super easy to use. One important tip: this pack doesn’t come with batteries, so make sure you order AAA batteries (or go rechargeable). I also mention I bought a separate lace so my kids can hang it and play along.
