About This Video

In this video, I show you a complete, step-by-step way to get back into a Windows PC when you forgot the password—Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7. I start right from the login screen where it says “incorrect password,” then I walk you through getting into the Recovery menu using a simple keyboard trick: hold Shift, click Power, then Restart. From there we go Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt, and I explain what we’re doing and why, so you can adjust if your drive letters look different. Inside Command Prompt, I use DiskPart to list volumes so we can find the real Windows drive (the one that actually has the Windows folder). Then I go into Windows\System32, back up utilman.exe, and temporarily replace it with cmd.exe. That’s the key: when you click the Accessibility icon on the login screen, it pops Command Prompt so you can list admin users and reset a password using net user. After we log in, I also show you how to “clear your tracks” by restoring the original utilman.exe—because if the Accessibility button opens Command Prompt, that’s a big red flag someone tampered with the system.
